For the last few weeks we have been studying the book of Proverbs in a series we are calling “Livin’ Venti”. The Big idea is: in John 10:10, Jesus said that he came to give us life and life to the full, but the reality is for many of us our lives feel small, empty, and lacking. The GOOD NEWS is that because of Jesus, you and I do not have to wait until heaven to experience a good life, we can begin experiencing fulfillment, vibrancy, and fullness of life today! In fact for many us, the thing that may be standing in the way is foolishness and sin.
As we continue to evaluate our lives, 5 practical things we can all do to go Venti in our lives!
1. Get in God’s Word DAILY! If you are searching for God’s will, you first have to know God’s WORD! I am amazed at how many people claim to be “Christians”, but spend no time reading and applying God’s Word to their life. I am willing to bet the farm on this one – if you would begin reading scripture everyday your walk with God would look totally different than it did last year! If you want to make one change to your life, start here!
Pastor James MacDonald has some great free resources available on his BLOG if you are looking for some great tools!
2. Get Connected! You and I were not meant to do life alone! While your walk with Jesus is personal, you were never meant to do life alone! Imagine what your life could be like if you had people around you who cared enough about you to speak truth in your life, pray for you, encourage you, and walk the journey of life with you. The reality is you and I are as connected as we want to be! If you are looking to make significant, lasting change in your life, than you cannot go at it alone! Consider joining a Bible Study, a Small Group, or Serving on a team that will allow you to be connected and build relationships!
3. Start-Stop-Continue! Take some time to evaluate your life. Are there things you need to START doing? Are there things you need to STOP doing? Are there things you need to CONTINUE doing? I really enjoyed this BLOG POST from Scott Hodge. The reality is we all have thing we need to begin doing, things we need to stop doing, and things we need to continue doing. Maybe a better questions is, where will you be in 5-10 years if you make no changes or adjustments to your life?
4. Get a BUDGET! One of the most common thing people ask about is money and finances. If you would like to make positive changes to your finances I would highly recommend that you participate in the upcoming Financial Peace University at Meadowland Church. This could be the year you pay off some debt, get your fiances in order, and experience joy in the area of finances in your life!
5. Make a Plan, Work the Plan! I am not a planner naturally. I really have to work hard to make a plan and stick to it, but I have also learned that if something is not written down, in the calendar or Action Method, it will not get done! The difference between a New Years Resolution and a Goal is that the Goal has a plan!! If you really want to see results, you have to have some sort of plan. My friend of mine always says, ” A bad plan is better than no plan”!
Happy New Year Everyone! As we roll into the new year I am PUMPED about a new series we are starting at Meadowland Church. For many of us, as we turn the calendar to the new year, take time to reflect on our lives and think about the adjustments or changes we would like to make in our lives
Maybe you tried convential wisdom, the new diets, or maybe you are setting the same new years resolution for the 16th time.
This year we invite you to do something different…….
Starting on Jan. 8th we invite you to go large and invest the next eight weeks discovering God’s anceint wisdom for our modern lives.
Think about it….what’s the alternative?
Another year of living a boring, mundane, ordinary life?
We are 3 days away from putting 2011 in the history books and entering 2012.
As we move into the New Year there are four things I wanted to share with you:
1. I wanted to remind you that this Sunday is New Years Day! This Sunday is one of those special times when we will only have one service at 10:00 am. You are invited to bring in the New Year by worshiping our Great God as we finish our study of Philippians together!!
2. I am PUMPED about the new sermon series we are launching on January 8th called “Livin’ Venti” – an eight week study in the book of Proverbs at Meadowland Church. For more information, or to share the information with someone, check out the “Livin’ Venti” link for more info! I believe God wants to use this series to CHANGE LIVES!!
3. 2011 has been an incredible year! I am still celebrating all that God has done in and through Meadowland Church. As i reflect back on what God has done, I am filled with an incredible about of excitement and anticipation for 2012.
4. For all of you who volunteer and serve at Meadowland, I am so incredibly thankful for you! Thank you for serving the Lord and supporting the ministries of Meadowland Church! Lives are being changed and disciples are being made! I believe the best is yet to come and I want you to know that God is using you in incredible ways!!
I am PUMPED for Christmas at Meadowland Church this year!
We are offering two Christmas Eve Services this year on Saturday the 24th. The Service Times are at 5:00 and 7:00 pm. These services are one of my favorite things we do each year. There is nothing like celebrating the birth of Jesus in a BARN with a Candlelight Service! I am so excited about the message God has laid upon my heart and the worship set is great! Bring out your whole family, invite your friends and neighbors, seriously YOU DO NOT WANT TO MISS Christmas Eve at Meadowland Church.
We are not offering a corporate worship service on Christmas Day (Sunday, December 25th), rather we encourage you to worship at home with your families and loved ones. We are so thankful for our staff and volunteers, you all work incredibly hard, so we wanted to provide you with the opportunity to slow down, celebrate Jesus, and cherish time with your family!!
Merry Christmas Everyone!
2011 has gone by extremely fast. Meadowland Church is a place where lives are changed by Jesus and Disciples are made. Last Sunday (December 4th) we slowed down and celebrated all that God has done in 2011, while taking time to make decisions that will launch us into 2012. Hearing the testimonies and stories of all that God has done, totally BLOWS me away! I think it would be a sin for us to treat the things that God is doing in us, through us, and around us as normal!!
As we remember 2011 and all God has done, it should give us confidence to take “bet the farm” steps of faith into 2012!
In case you missed it, or wanted to see it again here are some stories of what God accomplished in 2012:
