Sunday in Review 7.26.09

- I normally get up pretty early on Sundays.  This Morning I had a dream about church, it was very vivid.  When the alarm clock went off, I thought to myself – “Oh no, I forgot to change the alarm clock from Sunday” turned it off and went back to bed thinking it was Monday.  After a while I woke up remembering that in my dream, I preached a different sermon than I planned for, leading me to the startling realization that it really was Sunday, and I was now behind schedule!

- Today I preached a message called Jesus:Savior.  I preached out of 1 Corinthians 15:3-23.

- It was so nice to have the new A/C Unit running today.  It was nice and comfortable in the Auditorium.

- Our Back Yard Bible Club kids sang 2 of their songs for us, it was amazing!  I am so excited to see how God is working in the lives of the kids here at Meadowland!

- Pam Barger who ran the Backyard Bible Club, gave us some updates from the week!  Thanks for all your hard-work Pam!

- Our Worship team did a great job this week, like always!  The worship was great.  I am thankful to work with such a passionate team who is flexible!  We did not have a spare minute in our scheduling this week.

- I had the opportunity after service to get to know some new friends and connect with some people we have not seen in years.  It is always fun when old friends visit!

- Next week as we continue on in our Trinity Series, we are answering the question: What is the Church?

Sunday in Review: 7.5.09

- For being the 4th of July Weekend, we had quite a bit of people here on Sunday Morning!

- I had the opportunity to connect after the service and make some new friends,

-  I preached on Psalm 136 as we concluded this portion of our current series- “Trinity- God is”.

- We are still working on getting the A/C installed, but the temperature was pretty nice in the building on Sunday Morning.

- Someone told me after the service that God must have been trying to get their attention with the message of his Faithfulness during uncertain times.  He found out during service that one of their vehicles had been stolen right before church began…. talk about God’s Timing!

- I am so impressed with our Ministry Teams here at Meadowland.  Everything went really smooth on Sunday.  We continue to make adjustments as we are meeting in the Ministry Center.   Our people stepped up huge on Sunday and I am so thankful for them!

- Next Sunday we begin the next portion of our current Series as we begin our Study of Jesus.  If you have ever wondered who Jesus really is, then you will not want to miss the next 4 weeks here at Meadowland Church.

4th of July Weekend

We had a great time celebrating the 4th of July weekend with our families.  I am so thankful for the men and women who serve our country to protect the freedoms we have!  Audrey, Shane and I spent some time out at Audrey’s parent’s farm, which I affectionally call Chateau Sheedlo!  We camped out on the farm, did some horse back riding, went to a 4th of July Parade, relaxed, and had a ton of fun!

Here are a few pictures from the weekend:

Book Review: Confessions of a Pastor

Confessions of a Pastor I recently picked up Craig Groeschel’s book, Confessions of a Pastor.

At first I was a little skeptical, wondering how open and honest Craig would be in his book.  By the end of the book I was amazed by his transparency and thankful for his honesty.  I would highly recommend this book to anyone who is involved in ministry!  Craig does not just “rant” about his weaknesses, struggles, or negative experiences, but also offers helpful solutions along with scripture verses to wrestle through.

For me personally, this book is worth the read because of the following chapters:

Chapter 1:  ”I Can’t Stand Most Christians”

Chapter 3: “Most of the Time I Feel Incredibly Lonely”

Chapter 5: ” I Worry Almost All of the Time”

Chapter 7:  ” I Feel Completely Inadequate”

Craig Groeschel reveals a lot about who he is, where he is at on his journey, and as a guy who is continually trying to realign my life with Christ I appreciated that.   It is easy to at times feel like “we are alone” in our feelings, but Craig steps out with boldness, sincerity, and humor to reveal we all have struggles!  This book was a great read!  I did not know much about Craig Groeschel before reading this book, but after reading the book I like him a lot and would love to sit down over a cup of coffee with him sometime.
