Sunday in Review 8.23.09

- Sunday was another great day here at Meadowland.  I do not have the words to describe it, but I really believer there is nothing like Sunday at Meadowland.

- Our worship team did a fantastic job as always! Once again, we about blew the roof off this place towards the end of worship.  The neighbors can’t escape the sounds of praise coming from this place!

- As we continued on in our Trinity Series, we looked at the Work of the Holy Spirit in our lives as we studied Romans 8:5-11. You can listen to the message here!

- “If at the end of the day, you lay in bed at night and you consistently feel empty, maybe it is because you are missing the Life you were always intended to live in the Spirit”.  I did not plan to say that, but really feel like the Lord put those words on the end of my tongue during the message.

- We just about had to kick people out of here again on Sunday.  I love that people want to be at Meadowland, and hang around (sometimes for hours) after the service!

- I am especially proud/thankful for 2 people I will leave unnamed, who were made aware of a need and an opportunity to ministers of the gospel and JUMPED on it.  Lives are being changed!!

-  I spent some time after service talking with a couple guys about practical ways to open up the loft for seating.  I think we may have some up with something!!

I am so thankful for what God is doing in us and through us as a church! Press On Meadowland Church!

Sunday is Coming!

I love reading other people’s blogs, and from time to time will repost stuff that I think is worth everyone reading.

I read the following this morning on Perry Noble’s Blog.  Enjoy!

8.16.09

- This Sunday we continued on in our Study of the Holy Spirit!  We answered the question this week, “What does it mean to receive the Holy Spirit?”. Here is a link if you want to check out the message – Holy Spirit:Receive

- We are still working through all the details of meeting in the Big Red Barn, but this place comes alive on Sunday Mornings!  Just goes to show the Church is not a building, but the people in it!

- Our Worship Team has put a ton of effort into leading us into the presence of God, and selecting songs that line up with the series or current message.  I thought for sure we were going to blow the roof off this place during worship this week!

- I did not get a ton of time to connect with people after Church on Sunday.  I really missed the opportunity to connect after service.  I really want to protect that time.

-  We have the “Meet The Pastors Lunch” this Sunday after church.  There was a ton of good food, but there was even more good conversation around the table.  I think we spent more time talking about what God is doing in people’s lives than we did answering questions about the Church!

- With all the Preseason Football stuff going on over the last few weeks, I am really looking forward to having the opportunity to connect with people while watching some ball games this fall!  I love football and can’t wait to see Da Bears!!

- We shared the news about our upcoming Community Outreach Event called “Coke and a Smile” and had a tremendous response!  I can’t wait!

- I got to talk with some people who are interested in Baptism.  I love it when people take the next steps and go public with their faith!

- Next Week we are looking at the Works of the Holy Spirit!  ”The more we know about the Holy Spirit, the more we can relate to Him, and recognize His working in our lives!”

- It is all about Jesus here at Meadowland, and I am excited to see what God has in store for us next, as we faithfully follow Him!

Sunday in Review 8.09.09

- It was HOT on Sunday, but the new A/C kept us nice a cool.

- The auditorium was FULL on Sunday.  Our ushers were bringing in extra chairs during worship, it was awesome.

- It is Sunday’s like these that makes we ask the question: “If God were to double Meadowland Church in the next 2-12 months, what would we need to do to be ready?”.  Good question to ask!

-  Our worship team was “spot on” this Sunday.  The worship time was meaningful and moving, I did not want it to end!!

- “From the Inside Out” by Hillsong United is one of my favorite songs right now.  Our worship team rocked it, and we as a Church about blew the roof off the building!!

- We are continuing to work our way through out Summer Series, entitled Trinity.

- This week we studied the divinity and personality of the Holy Spirit.  The message was called “Hello, my name is Holy Spirit”.

- Seriously, we almost had to kick people out of here on Sunday.  We had people hanging around, getting to know one another, and enjoy the refreshments for over an hour after service.  It was SWEEETTT!

- We had family in town on Sunday, and after Church had a nice lunch together and were able to hang out.  I really enjoy it when our families get to come to Church with us at Meadowland on Sundays!

- Another reason Sunday was a good day:  FOOTBALL was back on!  Shane and I watched most of the game!  It awesome to have sit with me and watch football – Thats My Boy!!

-  Next week  we will be answering the question – What does it mean to receive the Holy Spirit?  If you have questions about the Holy Spirit, you will not want to miss this one!

Is it time to make a Change?

There are different kinds of gifts, but the same Spirit. There are different kinds of service, but the same Lord. There are different kinds of working, but the same God works all of them in all men.                                         I Corinthians 12:4-6

Last night at our Spiritual Gifts Class, I gave our class the following challenge:

“At any point in this 3 week class, if you discover your are serving in an area that does no match your gifts, you need to call your Ministry Leader, quit that ministry, and begin serving in a different ministry that matches your  gifts”.

Admittedly, it felt strange telling people to quite ministry, but I stand by my challenge and encourage anyone who is involved in ministry to do the same!

5 Questions to ask yourself:

1. Do you know what your spiritual gifts are?

2. Do you find your ministry involvement to be exciting or draining?

3. Do you look forward to your next ministry event?

4.  Do you think your involvement in the ministry make the ministry better and improves it?

5. If  you could only do one thing in your church, what would it be?  Are you doing that now?

Depending on your answers to these questions, it could be time for a change!
