Want to do something meaningful this year, that is guaranteed to have a positive impact on your life?
Read the entire Bible this year, you can do it!
Justin Taylor has pulled together possible ways to read the Bible in the new year.
The ESV Bible Reading Plan has a lot of great features like the ability to import the reading plan into your calendar, read the daily readings like a blog online, or you can download the plan.
Personally, I am going with the Discipleship Journal Plan because it is the best fit for ME. This plan has scheduled make up days, which I love! There is nothing more discouraging than getting behind in your daily reading. This plan gives you 5 catch up days every month!!
Let me know if you are in! Seeking Jesus like never before in 2010!!
Some of you have heard me talk about 2010 and some of the stuff I am PUMPED about. Rather than keeping you in the dark, I thought I would give you a preview of some stuff that’s coming up in January and February.
This year we as a Church we are going to be studying the Sermon on the Mount, and we are kicking it off with a series “No Perfect People Allowed”.
Are you are messed up? Do you screw up? If you have days when it seems like nothing is going right and it may be you that is getting in the way? If you are broken down, fail, fumble and have some baggage, then you are in good company! This January, find out why there are No Perfect People Allowed at Meadowland Church and why that is good news this January!
If You’ve Got It All Figured Out, Please Don’t Show Up!!
This February as we continue on in our study of the Sermon on the Mount, we are going to talk about our Marriages.
If you desire a new marriage or want to take your good marriage to a whole nother level, you do not want to miss this series

- I am pumped about our Christmas Eve Service this Thursday at 7:00 pm. Jesus was born in a manger and our Christmas Eve service is a barn! Talk about an authentic and relevant way to celebrate Christmas!
- Do WHATEVER it takes to BRING someone with you this Christmas Eve. If you have family and friends over for Christmas Eve, make it part of your night!! It is going to be awesome!!
- The path you are on ultimately decides your destination. If your intentions, desires and goals do not match up with the path you are on, you will not get to where you want to go.
- I have never met anyone who actually desired to be an alcoholic, addicted to cigarettes, addicted to drugs, overweight, unhappy, or living in the wake of divorce. These are not things we desire, yet they have become realities of our lives and we deal with them all the time. What path are you on?
- If you have hurt, habits, and baggage – Meadowland is the Church for you! We are broken people following Jesus. If you are messed up- You will fit right in! Join us in January as we start a new study and “No Perfect People are Allowed“.
- We need to do more than just, change our direction – we need to be changed by Jesus. John 3:5-8.
- Some of us (including me) have tried to make huge changes in our lives, we have tried to be perfect, be the best me possible, but at the end of the day when we lay in bed at night we know something is wrong, we are lost, and are running on empty.
- Nicodemus, was one of those guys. He wanted to make a change, and Jesus told him, “You must be born again”.
- Some of us desire new beginnings, want a new start, and some of us have even started working on our new year’s resolution. Maybe, just maybe you do not need a a new goal and a new start – Maybe YOU need to be made NEW – 2 Corinthians 5:17
- I love this time of year, our worship team lead us through some Christmas Carols this Sunday. I forgot they were Christmas songs, we were doing some serious worship.
- We saw people respond to Jesus this week. I spent a good half hour after church talking with people and listening to their stories.
- On Saturday, I had the opportunity to do a Celebration of Life Service for a man who passed away. There is nothing like celebrating the life of someone who is not with Jesus!
- This service on Saturday, really fueled my fire and took my sense of urgency to a whole notha level!
- God is doing some amazing stuff in and through the people that make up Meadowland Church. I cannot wait for 2010- HUGE things are coming as we follow after Jesus!!
- Sunday was my 29th Birthday. It was a great privilege to have the opportunity to share the Gospel and preach God’s Word on my Birthday. It was an awesome morning for me.
- I have got to give a big shout out to our set up and parking lot team for their hard work in the cold on Sunday. The lot was cleared, the cars were parked nicely, and I even had one couple tell me that the parking lot team valet parked their car and walked them up to the door. NICE GOING TEAM!! You are the 1st impression people have of our Church on Sunday Morning and you Rock!
- This Sunday was our Children’s Christmas Performance. There is NOTHING like hearing Children sing praise to Jesus and reading scripture. We had a pretty full house on Sunday, I think just about everyone was there for the Children!
- We studied Matthew 19:16-30 and Mark 10:17-31. We renamed the passage “The Man who had Everything, but Still Lacked Everything”. As we shop the aisles of life, what we put in our “shopping carts” matters. Position, Possession, Adventure and Relationships will leave us empty.
- The Rich Young Man was more interested in the “Blessing of God = Eternal Life” than he was in a relationship with God. The problem is you and I cannot earn, or work to obtain the blessing of God on our own – “Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but not with God; all things are possible with God.” Mark 10:27.
- Idolatry is when you and I take something that is good and make it is something that is Ultimate. When we look at anything other than Jesus and say, “If I had that my life would have added value or meaning”, we are at rick of creating an Idol.
- You cannot separate the way you handle your treasure and your relationship with Jesus (Matthew 6:21)
- We saw people respond to Jesus this week as we talked about not settling for cheap, knock off, 50% off overnight Saviors, that while they may be convenient, they will always leave you DISAPPOINTED!!
- Our Worship Team did an awesome job on Sunday. The did a cover of Bebo Norman’s song ‘Now I Know” and rocked it!
- After service was over, John had everyone sing Happy Birthday to me. How is it that “Happy Birthday” can make anyone blush?
- We had a bunch of family over on Sunday after Church for lunch and a Birthday Party. We watched the Bears vs Packers Game, had a ton of, and celebrated growing one year older. Audrey made this HUGE cupcake for my birthday, it feed like 10 people, it was AWESOME!!
- The Bears are reminding me of all kinds of things this year. Life Lesson from the Bears: Coaching Matters!! I applied for a Coaching Clinic with a group of Pastors that I am PUMPED about. The Coaching Group is limited to 12 Pastors and I found out tonight that I got ACCEPTED!! I AM STOKED! Still need to double check a couple things, but I felt like the Lord prompted me to apply, I got accepted, and I believe this is a GOD ONLY OPPORTUNITY for me!
I had to repost these! Mark Oestreicher (who has encouraged and mentored me from a distance without even knowing over the years) posted the following links on his blog, “Why Is Marko”.
Here are Marko’s findings on The Worst Nativity Scenes Ever. If you own one of these, do yourself a favor and buy yourself a new nativity scene!!
“a year or two ago i spent way too much time finding the worst collection of nativities i could find on the internet. seemed like they should see the light of day again, though not as a 20 post series, but, rather, all in one shot! so, click away and have fun (or be horrified, or both)…”
