Today’s quote comes from Robert Murray McCheyne who was a minister in the Church of Scotland. Among many things, McCheyne designed a system for reading through the Bible in one year. His system for Bible reading is still very popular today and was included in D.A. Carson’s Bible Reading/Devotional Plan called For the Love of God.
In reference to 2 Corinthians 3:18- And we all, with unveiled face, beholding the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from one degree of glory to another. For this comes from the Lord who is the Spirit.”, said the following:
“A glance at Christ will save, but it is the gazing at Christ that sanctifies.”
That got me thinking about things like focus, time management, and intentional habits/routines which lead to the following questions:
– What routines or disciplines do have in place to help you focus on Jesus?
– When was the last time you DID or DID NOT do something because of what you read in the Bible?
– Is there time set aside in my daily schedule to focus or refocus on Christ? If the answer is yes, is it enough
– What can be done to diminish distractions?
Would you join me in refocusing on Jesus?
Hebrews 12:1-2: Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, 2 looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God.
